Note to all manufacturers: do not use glossy plastics in fingerprint-sensitive areas! We like the soft-touch part, but though it looks good the glossy finish picks up fingerprints far too readily – kind of a problem for a device you’re constantly touching. The 5000 is a nice-looking device, combining a piano-black top and base with rubberized, textured sides. Together with the Wireless Mobile Mouse 40, it is also one of the few rodents in Microsoft’s arsenal which are completely ambidextrous, so southpaws rejoice. However, due to its use of the company’s new BlueTrack sensor technology, it actually has a significant advantage over its higher-numbered but older peers which use laser sensors, in that it will track across almost any surface. FOr now, I'm just using standard AAA batteries.Its model number might indicate that Microsoft’s Wireless Mouse 5000 sits somewhere between the cheaper 3000 and ‘top-of-the-line’ 8000 wireless mice. Until then, I can still use the mouse, but it won't charge. I plan to just get a generic power supply from Radio Shack, but I need the voltage value and polarity. This will be marked right on the power supply base. If you have yours, can you tell me what the output voltage is and what the polarity is of the inner pin. I lost my power supply that plugs into the USB connector. Battery conditioning allowed NiCad batteries to have a longer useful life. It should be noted that very few manufacturers of products that utilized NiCad batteries provided a "battery conditioning" feature.

This indicates that you now have 5 seconds to place the mouse in the charging base for battery discharge. The red light will flash quickly when you press the battery discharge button on the bottom of the base. The red light is for indicating discharge status of NiCad batteries. The older NiCad batteries needed to be conditioned occasionally so Kensington provided a way to do that with the charging base.
When this mouse was manufactured it used NiCad batteries which developed a memory much more than the newer batteries. If this procedure does not resolve your issue to try a system reset. The headset and base should now be connected.ħ. Remove the headset from the charging base lift telephone handset/press headset button if not using a handset lifter. Resubscription is finished when the red light on the base is fully illuminated and the green light on the headset disappears.Ħ.
